FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Below are a list of the most frequently asked questions by our clients together with our answers. Click on the respective question and the answer will be revealed.

bullet What is renewable energy?

Effectively, this uses natural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain tides and geothermal heat, which may be naturally replenished.

bullet What is solar energy/power?

This is energy from the sun in the form of radiated heat and light. Unlike the popular believe that it requires high sun intensity, it actually needs the ‘daylight’ from sunlight to produce the energy. That is why countries like the UK, which are less-than-sunny can, benefit from this technology.
Experts believe this may be the most viable source of energy to meet our future needs.

bullet Alternative/Renewable energy VS Generating set

This is an investment in a renewable alternative power supply. It breaks away from that of present power holding company and gen set. It is a ‘short time pain for a long time gain’. This can be achieved as a stand alone system, unlike a gen set that still requires diesel and other issues associated with running a gen set.

The only hurdle is the high initial cost, and the running cost is almost insignificant, as it only cost toping up the wet cells on periodic basis at insignificant cost. Reverse is the case with a gen set.

Also, the capability of charging the system with mains power and gen set is an added advantage, and not the primary purpose for this set up. This is unlike the popular ‘inverters’ which are being used now. Those are primary designed to be linked with the gen set and mains power.

bullet When will I stop using my gen set and power from electricity company?

It is expected that on completion of the 2 phases, enough power will be produced and stored on site for the consumption of the household. The owner can then discontinue the use of gen set and power from the Electricity company.

bullet What is the nature of the output power?

This is in pure sine waveform, which is capable of running all household appliance without any form of distortion or/and interference. These includes refrigeration appliances and air-conditions.

This is unlike the square wave and modified sine waveform (or modified square wave) which is not so good for domestic appliances and electronics unit.

Also, some appliances will not operate or will run noticeably less well on square wave and modified sine waves, e.g. laser printers, some copiers, light dimmers and some variable speed tools. Some TV’s and some audio equipment will pick up interference. Cooking times in microwave ovens are also prolonged.

bullet Is it legal to use renewable energy for domestic power supply?

Yes. It is very legal to use this form of energy for any form of power supply, domestic or commercial. In fact, government in some developed countries give grants towards the installation.
